damage.ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT. 1Henry Wood was summoned by Annie Fulkes for ( indecently assaulting her on the 1st of October. Mr. ! • Purcell, barrister, instructed by Messrs. Avery prosecuted, and Mr. Armitage defended. — The prosecutrix said the defendant came to her shop, asked to see her husband, and was told that he was from home. He then said that he was a friend of her husband; and wanted to purchase some wall paper. Witness showed him a pattern book, and after a gocd deal of hesitation he selected several pieces, and when told the price he wanted a reductionbut said he would give an extra penny if witnps3would kiss him once for each piece which he had bought. Witness indignantly declined and whilst she was in the desk making out the bill defendant caught her round the neck and kissed her, and behaved indecently. He offered her little stepdaughter money to go out and buy cakes. Defendant'subsequently went to her house with his wife in consequence of a visit which her husband had paid him, but instead of offering an apology, both defendant and his wife were abusive. At that time an apology would have been accepted. The defendant called afterwards and wanted to apologize, but a solicitor had then been instructed.—The Bench adjourned the case, the defendant being required to enter into recognizances to appear in a week.ASSAULT.
