The deceased was one of the old settlers of this city, was deputy sheriff under Courier, and a prominent and esteemed citizen. He was then a man of magnificent nlivsique and muscular ability, and it seems strange that that insiduousdisease, consumption, should have found a victim in him. He was a brave, honest, generous-heartedman, whose loss is deeply felt aud mourned.OWENS.• *
