The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra receives grants from tee state and federal . governments to bring performance^ such as this to outlying communities...Carlos Montoya is considered the world’s greatest Flamenco guitarist. Flamenco is a style of music of the gypsies of Southern Spain. It was largely influenced by the Modrs who once occupied this region for hundreds of years. Following this Carlos Montoya performed, his “Sweet Flamed-ca” which is his own composition and is a musical, interplay . between the. guitar . and the symphony orchestrla.After abrief intermission Montoya played four traditional Flamenco songs one of . which deserves particular note* “La Saeta.” The Saeta is played during the Holy Week in Seville.: Montoya recreates the processions which occur during the Holy Week.
