Harkey, previously reported missing in action, died September 2'i of wounds received. The message, which I came Saturday, read:“Report now received from the German government through the ln_ tcrnational Red Cross states your son. Sgt. Rubin K. Harkey, who was previously reported missing in action I died as the result of wounds received in action September 23 in European area. The Secretary of War extends bis deep sympathy Letter follow.;. Signed, J. A. Clio, The Adjutant Gen-j eral.”Sgt. Harkey was an engineer gunnel on a B-2-1 Liberator and had been overseas less than a month when he was wounded. He entered the Army ' Air Corps in May h»4.{ at Camp Croft and trained at Miami Beach, Florida, Kt-esle,.
