Lady Climbs to the Top, Eighty-five Feet From the Ground. Horace Duncan, as Knightstown contractor, has just recently com pleted a large and handsome barn for Mrs. T. J. Ranch, a large land owner of near Lyons Station. The barn is what is known as a round barn, being as nearly circular in shape as possible. It is erected upon the most improved ideas--convenience and labor-saving being the most notable features. From the ground to the top-most pinnacle, the barn stands 5 feet high, but the building proper is but 70 feet high, the cupola making the extra fifteen feet. After the barn had been painted a week or so ago, and while the lad ders where still in place, Mrs. Ranch and Miss Catherine McNutt, who makes her home with the former, decided to make a journey to the top of the barn. Miss McNutt did not stop until she had scaled the 85 feet of the ladders, but Mrs. Ranch stopped when she had ascended to a height of 70 feet. The seat was a daring one for the ladies to accom plish. The barn is said to be the only one of its kind in Fayette county, and was erected at a cost of almost $3,000. Almost a year was con sumed from the time the building was started until it was completed.
