Prairie Fires*- Some, of our worst fours in regard to prairie fires have been realized. For several days pilot the pi ui tics on the north, east and smith uf us have presented a sheet of ilame at once fearful atul beautiful to behold. Much damage lain been done and many have hu fibred and will mi Her, either from their own or others1 wilful carelessness, notwithstanding our words of warning. However we have not heard of one of our subscribers setting tho prairies on file, and it is very wrong that they should suffer at the hands of those who are too mean or thoughtless to take warning.Tho principle losers, as far us we have heard are, Mrs. Cox, a widow, living south of this place lost a stable. IVter Briner had $600,00 worth of grain, hay, c.,burned. Mr. liber-solo lost heayily—set the fire himself, bo wc l learn. A large quantity of timber has been badly damaged. Through the prompt action of several gentlemen, the fire was fortunately kept without the town. Ia there no remedy for this evil which is so dangerous as to bo eriminai? Year after year it is repeated.
