Mr. Hodges, the new Member for Kent, was sorry that measures of relief, rather than threats of punishment, upon the late disturbers of the peace in that county had not found a place in the King’s Speech.Sir Edward Knatchbtjll assured the House that the peasantry of Kent were no parties to the unhappy disturbances which had taken place there. In the last Parliament he opposed the Government, and pointed out the unfortunate condition of the labouring classes, but nothing had been done. The consequence was that scenes of riot had occurred.The question having been called for, the Address was agreed to without a dirision.
