* ‘ Dottle nunting expeditions. several years ago when theyLopsided Tumout Marks ElectionAIKEN -- A total of 1,068 voters turned out Tuesday and returned three unopposed incumbents to Aiken City Council.Republicans Hastings Wyman and Frampton Durban, and Democrat W'illar Hightower Jr. won four-year terms with no write-in opposition.he voting was lopsided, however, with Hightower receiving 908 votes while Durban garnered 384 and Wyman had 368.The vote for Hightower was heaviest in Precincts 2, 4 and 5. In Precinct 2 (American Legion Post 212, 602 Hampton Ave., N.W.) the breakdown was: Hightower, 253; Durban. 18; and Wyman, 19. ThePrecinct 4 (Smith Hazel Recreation Center) vote was Hightower. 343; Durban, 28; and Wyman 22.Precinct 5 (Aiken Elementary) showed Hightower with 72 votes and Durban and Wyman with 36 each.The Republicans gathered more votes than the Democrat in Precincts 1 and 6. Precinct 1 •Municipal Bldg.) showed Hightower with 59 votes, Durban with 95 and Wyman with 96. Precinct 6 (St. Angela High School) gave Hightower 80, Durban 116, and Wyman 109.Hightower was first elected to council last April when he ran for the six months unexpired term of Democrat William Clvburn, who resigned on being elected to County Council. He defeated Republican Jane Vaughters by nine votes out of a total of 2,154 votes cast.Wyman, a realtor and home builder and member of the Aiken Board of Realtors, has served on council for 12 years. Durban has held a seat on council for four years and previously served on the Aiken Planning and Zoning Commission for eight years.Selling Complete Line
