Letter received by Johan Telfer from his friend, Geo. Wingham. “21000 G. Wingham, 18 Platoon, 4th Battalion lat Canadian Divs Dear Jack I act pleased to hear that you are still going strong. I received your letter over a week back but we have been busy lately and I have not had much spare time. Things are looking better these days and I think Fritz is getting the worst of the deal. We have not taken a very active part in the present fighting but no doubt our turn will come soon. I saw Alex McLaughlin a few weeks ago, he was looking stood well. We have lately moved and taken up a new position. Andy Thompson stopped a bul let before your letter arrived and is now in hospital so I have not been able to give bias your mes age It is the second he has stopped, so I am afraid it is get ting a habit with him. We had a sample of what the winter will be like last week, it rained and our trench resembled a minature Stony Creek and it was cold too. The papers have not yet arrived, I hope they are not lost as I am keeping the pleors that I have written, but take a lot of our mail scans to go astray lately.
