Members and Friends of the Ladies’ Home Missionary Society:By the grace of Clod we are once i more permitted to come together 10 j celebrate another anniversary or our I Ladies’ Homo Missionary society. 1 Today we are six yeais old. and it is • our privilege to look back over thej past years of our existence and fee what God in llis merov lias enabledus to accomplish. jOur society was organized Nev. it. 1$!)*. The first meeting was held at the parsonage. Wood street. 111 response to a request by the pastor’s w:fe. Mrs. G. 1*1. Kniinm. At this meeting a constitution was submitted and adopted. The following officers were 1 lien elected : president. Sirs. C.K. Krnmm: vice president. Mrs. \Y. j F. Lentz: secretary. Mrs. Henry! Stein: treasurer, Mrs. Kobert W. Fur-1 row. The following twelve ladies! were present at this meeting: Mrs. 1 C. E. Krnmm, Mrs. CalLie Dill. Mrs. | Nancy IBrown. Mrs. Kesiim Tschumy, Mrs. Alfred Wolf, Mrs. Jen nib Furrow. Mrs. Etta Stein. Mrs. Minnie Veitli, Mrs. Mary Wolf. Mrs. Ella Furrow. Sirs. Lillie Srein, Mrs. W. F. Lentz. We are pleased to say that these twelve original members are all still active members of our society. We have 011 our roil at present twenty-four members. In all twenty-eight members joined our society during the past six years. Four have moved away, thus decreasing onr number 10 twenty-four. jIt is especially noteworthy that onr! society has had a regnlnr meeting each j month during ihe past six years. In j all seventy-two regular mouthy meet-\ ings were held. The total attendance | iu the six years was uOO. an average ot twelve persons being present at each meeting. The largest attendance at any regular mceong was seventeen, the smallest eight.Each meeting of onr society is opened and closed with devotional services. such as the reading of scripture, prayer and siuging of sacred songs. With but n few exceptions our pastor lisa been present with us at each meet-j ing and has always taken an active j interest in our welfare aud work. j In ii»00 at the March meeting it was J resolved that the society take up a-course of Bible reading.?. A volume [ of lectures on : The Famous Women; o: the Old Testament was first taken j up and lias been completed. A second ! volume of ■•The Famous Women of the \ New Testament ’ is now being read. !At a meeting held in February j$!iu| the society decided that a visiting! committee he appointed every three {months whose special duty it shall be to visit the sick in the congregation. In the early uart of the first year of the society it was resolved that wei have a birthday treasury,—that is. f auy member having a birthday during! the month before the regular nicer ing ■I of the society, could thank God in a! j financial way by bringing either a j = -freewill offering for this treasury, orj contribute as many cents as years old. , By this arrangement -sih.-ic, ha? been j collected. The largest offering received ; for the *iirtinlay treasury at any time ] from one* individual member was $0. j From the very beginning the so-j duty lias faithfully kept up the plan I of each mom her giving 10 cents per month a? regular dues. The total amount of money raised in the past six years was mating a general average of 4?:s,per meeting.
