Mrs. Eliza J. Baird, Mrs. Eliza J. Baird, widow of John W. Baird, who resided for years cor ner East Ave. ane Washington Street, and later bought the property now the Arenline Academy, didil at Kings ton, Mississippi, Oct. 20th, on the old homestead where she was born. She and her husband located in Middle town a few years before the breaking out of the war of the Rebellion. Mr. Baird was south to look after frome property interests when he was made a prisoner at the old homestead where Mrs. Baird died, for a period of time under picket guard. Finally he es caped and returned to Middletown. After the death of Mr. Baird, Mrs. Baird returned to Mississippi. She had been in the habit of visiting here regularly during the summer until two years ago. She was usually ac companied by her nieces, Misses Ella and Alice Sojourn. Mrs. Baird was about 74 years of age. She was stricken with paralysis Sept. 28th which lingers until her death, Oct. 20th. Mr. Baird in his life time owned Exchange Building in partnership with H. H. Hunt and was owner of No. 5 West Main Street.
