Public conference on aging set by Pittsburgh PresbyteryDr. Arthur S. Flemming, chairman of the 1971 White House Conference on Aging and special consultant on aging to President Nixon will be the principal speaker at a Pittsburgh Presbytery conference on aging Monday, Nov. 13.“Newer Viewpoints with Older Adults” will be the theme of the conference which will be held in Beulah Presbyterian Church, 2S00 McCradyRoad, Churchill, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m.In addition to Dr. Flemming's address which will come at a noon luncheon, the program will include a series of seminars in the morning followed by a similar group of workshops in the afternoon.Sessions will be on various phases of services to the elderly including retirement preparation, social security, education, nutrition, program resources, home health care, senior citizens centers, nursing homes and other subjects.A special morning session will be devoted to new legislation affecting the elderly and a movie, “The Father,” will be shown.The program is sponsored by the Presbytery’s Christian education subcommittee on ministry with older adults. - The .College Center North branch of the Community College of Allegheny County is co-sponsoring the event. The Rev. Terry Stoops, associate minister of the Elfinwild U.P. Church. Shaler. is chairman of the event.Officials say the conference is forretired people and those about to retire as well as for pastors and social workers whose responsibilities include working with older adults.The conference is open to the public.
