N. M. Smyers was elected president of the Lubbock Gem and Mineral Society at a meet ing Tuesday night in Municipal Garden and Arts Center, 4215 College Ave. Other new officers are Robert O. Miller Jr., vice president; Mrs. Jack M. West, secretary, and George W. Hartin Jr., trea surer. The new officers will be Installed Jan 1, 1965, to begin serving one-year terms. Directors, who will serve three-year terms, are Bruce Bryan and Mrs. M. H. Womack. Speaker for the meeting was Dwight Young, Lubbock’s Com munity Ambassador to Nigeria.
