Formal re-opening of the Colon ial store here this morning after a re-modeling which cost $60,000, drew store leaders to High Point from North Carolina, South Caro lina and Virginia. Completely modern in every re spect, from the bakery depart ment, which is seen immediately upon entering, to the 100 per cent self-service meat market, stocked with every type of fresh meat, fish and poultry available, the store compares with any in this section. The store is now equipped with seven merchandise gondolas, each approximately 40 feet in length and stocked with a complete line of grocery products. Also fea tured in the gondolas is a separ ate candy section. Seven modern check-out lanes are now in use in order to elim inate unnecessary waiting on the part of the customer to leave af ter completing his purchases. The re-opening was attended by many officials of the Colonial chain including, H. W. McCullough, Division Manager, Durham; C. M. Tuttle, General Superintendent for North Carolina; R. B. Escoe, Meat Merchandiser, Columbia, S. C.; E. H. Vickery, Jr., Grocery Merchan diser, Columbia, S. C., and Tommy Little, Self-Serve Meat Merchan diser of Norfolk, Va. Local store managers are—W. R. Hayes, Grocery Manager; J. A. Walden, Meat Manager and L. M. Williams, Produce Manager.
