Ray Thompson, a student avia tor at the university, took a 5 3a passenger to Gallup yesterday Miss Nancy Campbell, a westbound traveler whose train deserted her here, yesterday morning. He took off from university field at 11 o'clock and expected to reach Gal lup in time to catch No. 3 at 8:20 o’clock. He had not returned from his flight late last night. Miss Campbell, who is a com panion to an elderly woman on the train, was writing postal cards in the news stand at the station when the first section of the Cali fornia limited on which she was traveling pulled out and left her. She did not believe that the second section of the limited would per mit her to catch up with her com panion at the next stop and in quired if there were an airplane in the city. The services of Mr. Thompson were obtained and she started toward Gallup by air line soon after lunch yesterday. Miss Campbell had been a war nurse and had done some previous flying overseas. She was bound for Los Angeles where she will be a companion to the wealthy wom an with whom she is now travel ing. It was not learned where the two travelers came from. It was expected that Mr. Thomp son would return to Albuquerque yesterday afternoon if he met with no accident on the trip. It was also possible that he would return last night, since he had made many moonlight trips by night.
