Purchase Hale-Ford 25 Gallon Chem ical Machine—Elect Their Com pany Officers The new fire engine for Croydon fire Company No. 1 has been deliv ered and is now in the Fire House of that town. The engine is a Hale- Ford with two twenty-five gallon tanks, refillable and is calculated to handle any fires that may start in the town. The people of the town have been asked to contribute one dollar per person in an effort to pay off the cost of the engine. The local Improvement Associa tion who own the Fire House are also owners of the engine, but a Fire Company will be formed and will have complete supervision of the mahine. The engine has attracted consid erable attention since its arrival last Friday and almost everyone in the town has turned out to gaze upon the machine. By special invitation the machine will participate in the parade to be held in conjunction with the open ing of the Frankford Elevated next Thursday A demonstration of the ability of the apparatus to put out the ordi nary firm was staged in Croydon last Saturday afternoon by repre sentatives of the Hale-Ford Com pany and the citizens expressed themselves as thoroughly satisfied with their purchase. The Fire Chief is L. K. Morgan Sr. R. B. Sanderson and Thomas Crawford are Assistant Chiefs. The members will be selected from young men around the town.
