The Sterling Comedy Company played last night “Led Astray’* and a farce before a house embracing many of the best known people, and the attendance was large. The company comprises unusual talent; it is just to say that the members acquitted themselves finely, and are entitled to good .audiences. It irf the best theatrical company that has visited Geneva for a long time past. — Geneva Courier.The Democratic meeting and parade held in this village last Friday ovening, ^was attended by^a large crowd. Thu parade of horsemen and footmen was very large and made a fino appearance, Bouton’s band, the Jacksonville band and the Trumansburg martial band furnished the music. J. Parker King presided at the meeting and . E. K. Apgar delivered a strong Democratic speech. A number of stores and residences were handsomely illuminated. Many places of business occupied by Bepublican* had the sign “We shall vote for Garfield and Arthur,** bung in the window.J. B. Moore, who is employed by the State to light and extinguish the lamp in the light-house on the break-water, was involuntarily forced to spend Saturday night in those bleak and cheerless quarter*. Cfn going out to light up, he did not safely secure his skiff; and while upon the pier his boat got loose and drifted away. Succor was impossible. The wind blew a gale from the west, accompanied by a furious snow-storm. Moore sought refuge in the light-house and as well as he could cuddled about the huge lamp which threw out warmth enough to keep.him tolerably eoinfort-able.—Geneva Gazette
