Doris OlesenMrs. Doris Arlene Olesen, age 83, died at the St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll on Wednesday, October 10, 2001, following a lingering illness.A daughter of Herman and Mae Rice Canfield Schroeter, she was bom on October 5, 1918, at Audubon, Iowa. She attended schools in Audubon and Carroll Counties as a young girl and graduated from Carrol)High in 1936.She and V.V. Olesen were married on September 10, 1937 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll, Iowa.Doris worked at Jung’s Bakery and had been the catering manager of the Burke Motor Inn and then had been a legal secretary for Kurth Law office for several years until retiring in 1991. She had lived in Carroll for 67 years and had helped organize the Left Footers Square Dance Club and had been a teacher and caller for the Left Footers for over 25 years. In her spare time she enjoyed baking, square dancing, traveling, camping and spending time at their condo in Branson, Missouri.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll and had taught Sunday School and 1 st grade their for 25 years. She was also a member of the Carroll Moose Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary of which she had served as president.Survivors include her husband V.V. Olesen of Carroll, two daughters: Kathleen Buchfinck and her husband, Joseph, of Carroll; rachelle Willenborg and her husband, Michael, of Carroll; 2 grandchildren: Chad Willenborg and Jami Willenborg.Doris was preceded in death by her parents, sister Vera Barrett, son-in-law Ronald Anderson, and her parents-in-law Ole and Eva Olesen.
