Friends, relatives and col leagues of Ohio Rep. Sue Fisher, R-New Richmond, and her husband. Theodore paid their last respects Friday and Saturday. Many of those attending the services in Amelia and Pom eroy, Ohio, were still in shock following last Tuesday’s mur der-suicide. Shortly after 5 a.m. Oct. 25, Fisher walked up behind his wife as she drank coffee at the kitchen table, held a .357 magnum revolver to her head and pulled the trigger, ac cording to Inspector Clarence Pennington of the Clermont County Sheriff's Department. Fisher then telephoned the sheriff's department and re ported that there had been a shooting at the couple’s white frame farmhouse in Laurel, Pennington said, before turning the gun on himself. Police arrived to find both bodies lying in pools of blood in the kitchen, a single gunshot wound in each of their heads. “I’m sure it was a surprise (to Mrs. Fisher),” Pennington said, ‘there was no struggle.” Family friends have con firmed, after listening to tape recordings, that Fisher re ported the shooting, he said. The 5:20 a.m. caller said simply “There has been a shooting at the Fisher residence at 2054 Ohio 232, New Richmond,” then hung up. A “hurriedly written” note was found in Fisher’s pajama pocket, but Pennington said its contents will not be released. “All I’m going to say is that it was domestic-related,” he said. Fisher had owned the pistol and ammunition used in the shootings for several years, he said. “He didn’t just go out to the hardware and buy it,” Penning ton explained. Friends and neighbors said they knew of no problems in the couple’s relationship, but said that Fisher had planned to spend a week alone “to think” starting on the day of the shooting. The energetic first-year legi slator had addressed the Hamilton County Women’s Re publican Club until 9:40 the night before her death, and was scheduled to be a featured speaker at a Clermont County Chamber of Commerce break fast the morning of the shooting. Pennington said he plans to wind up his investigation this week. ‘I want to stress that the investigation is not ongoing because we have doubts,” he said. “We do any in-depth investigation in anything of this nature. We're going into the background of the victims to assist the family-this is one of the hardest things in the world to accept.” Fisher, 48, an_ electrical engineer and _ consultant ‘ at Zimmer Nuclear Power Station, and Mrs. Fisher, 47, a consultant to area nursing homes, had been married for 27 years. SUE FISHER In memorial Members of the VFW Post 6770 in New Richmond placed a small American flag at the base of the war memorial on Front Street for each of the 229 servicemen killed in the bombing of the U.S. Marine headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon, Oct. 23. A special ceremony also was held for New Richmond Marines Terry Abbott and Dennis West who were killed in the bombing last week.
