Judge’s WidowAccidentallyShot Bv SonCHICAGO—(ANP)—Mrs. Maude Roberts George, widow of Judge Albert B. Gecrge, late municipaljudge of Chicago and one of themost prominent matrons in thecity, was shot accidentally and seriously wounded last Monday morning when her son. Albert George. Jr., mistook her for a burglar.Young George told investigating officers that he was awakened by a noise early Monday morning. Slipping on his bathrobe and going downstairs to investigate, he saw a shadowy form in the kitchen.Not knowing that his mother had arisen early, he filed a single shot from a pistol which he kept in his room. The bullet struck Mrs. George in the corner of her mouth and lodged near the back of her head. She was removed to Provident hospital where Dr. Homer Cooper declined to speculate upon the outcome of the wound.Mrs. George for many years ha.i been one of the outstanding women of Chicago. She is a formei f0i president of the National Association of Negro Musicians, prominent in club life, secretary of the Atl Provident Hospital Woman’s board ^lot, and active in numerous other ac- corttvities.
