Calkins came down town Sunday morning, beaming with one of his McKinley smiles and said he was grandpa to an 11 pound baby boy born at Waterloo, Saturday, October 21.Last Sunday night fire destroyed the home of Charles Bockman on his farm (known as the Wesp farm) 5 miles northwest of town.Mrs. Stella Phillips of Clinton, Iowa and E. E. Dayton of Worthington, Minnesota, came last week Friday to attend the funeral of their father.Chas. Simpson has purchased H. H. Bassetts town property, two buildings on Main street and the residence.Mrs. N. Burnham and daughter Alma are visiting this week with H. Churchill and family at Sumner.Work on the opera house is moving along at a great rate under the supervision of J. C. Thorne..
