The real thoroughfare for colored people of Mobile is Davis avenue. With the exception of down In the bus iness part of the city, no street or ave nue in the city is more traveled. Not only this, but it 's thickly settled. There is also much business on this avenue, while the Individual business houses are small, there are many of them. Colored people own lots of prop s on this avenue, and many of the Mobile's best negro popula tors. These people evidently pay their city taxes and ap asucl constitute a source of Income to the city. The above being true, it seems to me that the city s authorities would nicely pave the avenue, both the side walks and on the street. As the street is now, it is a shame. This could be done without any cost to the city. Each property owner Rhobald pay the cost of said paying in front of his own property. This should be done because the race ought to have no better thoroughfare. This is to call the attention of the authorities to this matter, with a hope that it will strike them favorably.
