OUR MEETING.The Pole Raising on Monday last was a splendid affair, and one well calculated to arouse the spirits, and make glad the hearts, of the patriotic Whigs of Miami. It was the largest political gathering ever before witnessed in this county. Gariy in the morning the people began to assemble from this and adjoining counties, and by noon it was estimated, that not less than TWO THOUSAND of as zealots Whigs as ever fought for liberty, were found gathered together, each determined to give the last quietus to locofocoism on Monday next. The indomitable whigs of Richland township turned out in great force—two live coons were brought in by them borne upon long poles, and as the procession filed through the streets, they were cheered by the assembled whigs, and cursed by a few malignant locofocos. Those Richland boys are hard to beat.During the afternoon, a splendid Ash Pole was erected, 130 feet in height, at the top of which floated majestically the stars and stripes oi our country, bearing the proud inscription of CLAY FRE-L1NGHU YSEN. The welkin rang with the shouts of the whigs, as their, soon to be, victorious banner was given to the breeze, startling the guilty consciences of coumr the few locofocos who were skulking] then a about the corners of tho streets and al- estma leys, furnishing them with evidence, not to be mistaken, of the political annihilation that awaits them. The assembled multitude was addressed in a very able and spirited manner by Capt. Murray', of Huntington, and the meeting dispersed in the best of spirits, resolved upon the holy purpose of per-forming their whole duty to their country on Monday next.mostly def what ings eterni day g but mA h ed or the loi roomP. 5 er poiMR.was ir ing oi utter he sail head i man ii The I him, a to the appca Frida; Mr. Apassec eiblc tlt;wentdoingspeed‘Well, victiorshouldI do wmm.Kom meanness.
