Ten rifles, with infallible aim, were instantly leveled at the robbers, and!cn Crows would inevitably have fallen dead upon the grass bat for the unaccountable accident of every ona of the rifles missing fire! Off went the Crows, disappearing across the horizon with a rapidity that even their sable feathered namesakes could scarcely havo excelled, while the deceived trappers jumped and stamped uponthe grass with rage and fury at finding their priming knocked out of their rifles and the touch-holea plugged tightly with the little sticks the Indians had been whittling!
