By DON PATTERSON Medicine Hat Nos Icy conditions contributed to a collision that closed Highway 3 east of Bow Island Thursday night. At approximately 7:45 p.m. an eastbound Jeep Cherokee pulling a U-haul trailer lost control on a patch of ice. A semi-tractor trailer following behind braked, and lost control as well. The truck hit the U- haul causing it to jack-knife, and block both lanes of traffic seemed | Sgt. Rick Cashman of the Bowsend Island RCMP said the highway was closed until approximately * 10:30 p.m. He said there were only minor injuries as a result of the accident. According to Cashman, last night’ s road conditions were very poor, . He admitted conditions on Highway 3 had improved slightly by Friday afternoon between Bow Island and Medicine Hat, but conditions west of Bow Island remain poor. ‘He advised people not to travel the highways unless absolutely necessary. Cashman said this was the first collision reported to the detachment since Wednesday’s show fall.
