WINFIELD — The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves smashed the Danville Bears 42-6 in their final football game of the season here Friday night and finished with a 4-5 record. Overall and in Southeast Iowa play. Steve Norder sparked the Wolves as he scored two touchdowns and rushed for 147 yards in 13 carries, a 113 average. Duane Johnson had 102 in three, a 34 yard average and Mark Bitting, 56 in 15, 3.7. Bitting, who also got two touchdowns, was also tough on defense with 17 tack les. Senior Jack Marston, a tackle, had the best night of his career as he made 7 tackles. Denny Nichols and Joe Leach were also outstand ing on defense. Bitting opened the scoring with a three yard run in the second quarter. Jeff Carlson passed to Jim Carlson for two points. Leach pas sed 46 yards to Jim Carlson to make it 14-0 at the half. Norder ran 30 and 177 yards for touchdowns and D. Johnson, 75, in the third quarter. Bitting made a two point conversion run. Larry Hershey scored from close in for Danville in the fourth period. Jeff Carlson passed 18 yards to Bitting for the last Wolve touchdown. Winfield-Mt. Union rushed for 308 yards and passed for 167 on six of ten. Danville had 102 rushing and 60 passing on five of 12.
