Charlie Mitchell made the state ment the other day that he was the first man to ever knock John L. Sullivan down. Mitchell is 43 years old, and quit the ring 10 years ago, when Corbett took his measure. It seems longer ago than 10 years when Charlie Mitchell was on earth, doesn’t it?
