Dr. Bakers Flection, Indianola, Oct. 17.—Special: Dr. Edward L. Baker, of this city, was elected head physician of the Brother hood of America at its recent general convention held at Kansas City, and those present from here who assisted the doctor in his campaign, say that it was one of the prettiest and most hotly contested pieces of political work ever witnessed even in a politi cal convention. The doctor had been in communication with all the dele gates himself, and through his friends ‘and had prepared a printed catalogue of all his recommendations and then took to the Kansas City convention south of Warren county's best workers and consequently came home a victor. A unique surprise awaited the doctor on his arrival home. The band had then engaged for the occasion and he was not at the depot with a delaga tion of decorated varriages and a large number of citizens gathered at the doctor's beautiful home and speeches of congratulation were made until the doctor was welfed to tears. His many friends here rejoice with Jim, and he is certainly in every way worthy and deserving of the honorable and re munerative distinction. Dr. Baker was once a resident of Humboldt and all Ws old friends will be glad to note that he is on earth and prosper log.
