Recently thewife No. 1 received a letter from him dated from this city. In this he stated thnt he had been employed in Ilyan’s packing house here ever since he came west, and that he was sorry for having deserted his family, aud now wanted to take care of them. He asked that she and the children come to Dubuque to live with him. For the sake of the two younger children, girls,aged about 22*and 14 years old, she ^concluded to to do so. He met her and the twoChicagoconsidering the way he was situated, he had concluded to have her and the children go to housekeeping there and he would run over occasionally to see them. This made her suspicious, and when he had left Cbicage she concluded to take a run over to Dubuque herself and see how mattersstood.She was informed that she could notprosecute her husband for bigamy asthe crime was committed oyer threeyears ago, but she could proceed toEmmettaburg and prosecute him foradultery and lewdness if she couldfind evidence that he had been liviDgwith his second wife within the oastthree years. She proceeded to__mettsburg at once to institute criminal proceedings.
