Dr. McCune and wife were at Rockville Wednesday. at an A full line of flannels and yarns W. I. Sylvester’s. Bert Cornwell and Mrs. Fanny Hughes were in Rockville yesterday. Miss Belle Osborn has accepted a position as saleslady in W. H. Syl vester’s dry goods store. Hallow ’Een (last night) was cel ebrated by the boys and girls. They had lots of fun. Mrs. Sam Hienkle, who has been very sick for several weeks, is at present writing no better. Silas Taylor, of Farmersburg, Ind. a former citizen of Parke, visited is brother Harrison here the first o eek. ‘Miss. Annie Phillips, daughter of Benj. Phillips, living three miles east of town, is visiting with the family of David Dunlap this week. We hadn't heard of this enterprise, the following account of which we get from the Montezuma corres pondence in the Rockville Repub lican, but hope it is a fact and will be successfully carried out: “A scheme is being set on foot to erect telephone flam the I. SYLVESTER. Thanksgiving will soon be here with its fat turkeys, good, God-fear ing, Christian people offering heart felt thanks, and hell-elected hyp ocrites lying to their God. The most notable event of this week was the presence of Soulomon Allen, of Coloma, on the streets selling pears, less over 93 years old.—f Rockville ‘Tribune. A Mr. Windson and family, of Summit Grove, have moved to Montezuma to live, and will reside in the dwelling of Mrs. Hughes, two doors north on the corner from her own residence. One hundred and thirty-nine grand jury indictments is rather a goodly number for a neighboring county; but it is not half what we might expect—under the circum stances—Crawfordsville poker play ers have been telling on each other. [Rockville Tribune. Dr. Wm. Reeder and wife, of Troy, Kansas, are here today, visit ing Dr. Reeder, brother of the first named gentleman. Dr. Wm. is an old ex-resident of Parke county, having lived and practiced medicine in various parts of the county before the war. “He enlisted as Captain of the 85th regiment, and after the war located at Troy, Kansas, where he has since lived, Sugar Creek car, Republican. There is a house at Grange (or Grumble) Corner that seems to be infested by evil spirits. Six fam ilies have lived in the house in the last three years, and the husbands and wives have all separated while living there. This house had for merly been used as a whiskey saloon. We are sorry this week to chron icle the death of Buell Welshbans, at Montezuma. He died very sudden ly at the home of his parents in that city, Sunday afternoon. The de ceased was a resident of Browns burg until the removal of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Welshans to Montezuma, six years ago. He was aged twenty eight years. The many friends of the bereaved family in Brownsburg extend their sympathy.—[Browns burg Modern Era. A farmer near Albia, Town, by the name of J. H. Wolf, has found a sure cure for croup.
