Mn Sophia WeUmandel. widow of the late John Welsmandel, prominent early Oregon pioneer, died at the family home. 1209 Eleventh street, Sou* day. after an illness of several months, Mrs. Weismandel fell several year* ago. and never recovered from the effects of the Injury, but her condition was not serious until two months ago.Mm. Weismandel was born in Pennsylvania. March 8. 1S33. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Steed. She was united in marriage In Iowa to John Weismandel. Leaving Iowa they started scrota the plains in 1865 for Oregon, making the long journey by ox team. Arriving In Clackamas county, they decided to take up a homestead, and settled near Canby, where they remained until coming to Oregon City about 27 years ago.Mrs. Weismandel Is survived by thefollowing children: Mrs, Emma Phil-lipe, of Canada; Mrs. Rose Howard, of San Francisco, Cat, but now in Oregon City, where she was called by her mother*** Illness; Mrs, Nellie Lyons, of Oregon City. She also leaves eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Mrs* Mary Walton, of Eastern Oregon.
