With her husband she became a Presbyterian in 1972.This decision resulted from their desire to have a mutual denominational commitment, and through their participation in Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin and her involvement in Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, they had grown to respect the doctrinal and governmental strength of the Presbyterian Church.Rebecca and John Scott Weaver were married in 1969. He is from Illinois and is an electrical engineer with Texas Instruments.Mrs. Weaver graduated from Yoe High School in 1962. attended Baylor and graduated from Texas University in 1966 and the Austin Seminary in 1974, with the highest grade average of her graduating class.Her awards include the David L. Stitt Fellowship, awarded by the Alumni Assn. of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, the Sam B Hicks Scholarship Eta Sigma Phi. a classical languages Honorary Society and Alpha Lambda Delta.’ Freshmen Women’s5 Honorary Society.“My primary interests in 1 the seminary were in' Biblical and TheologicalJ studies, and I feel that withina church my major emphasis would be to find v arious means of expression for these interests.
