Mrs Frances Moore, scholarship committee chairmen, was one of those making the presentations to Bonnie Durst, Lynn Sapienzae, Gayle Gregory and Pam Hartley..At Palm Springs High School, Frances Moore and Olive Sykes of the Desert Hot Springs Women’s Club pre sented the club's Scholarship awards to four seniors from Desert Hot Springs.They are Pam Hartley, who will take up missionary stud ies at Biola University; Lynn Sapienzae. who will attend College of the Desert and eventually go into the medical field; Bonnie Durst, who is interested in marine biology and will attend San Diego University; and Gale Gregory. who will study foreign translations at College of the Desert.Virginia Palmer Is Installed DHS Woman's Club PresidentBY VIRGINIA SMOOTThe Desert Hot Springs Women’s Club held its Instal lation luncheon May 21. at the Lido Highlands Restaurant Reverend Swmeford gave the invocation.Officers installed by Mar guerite Rurmesch, installing officer, and Alice Wahlmark. installing marshal, were Vir gink. San Bernardino, for Edgar Sherman Partain, 61, of 67335 Mission Dr., Palm Springs.He died May 22 at Desert Hospital after a long illness.The native of Oklahoma had resided in Palm Springs five months. He had resided in Bakersfield 30 years and was self employed as an oil drilling -contractor.Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Susie Partain of Palm Springs, three sons, Edgar S. Jr.. Richard B. and Neil L, all of Bakersfield, two daughters, Nadine Cooper of Shafter and Leah F Partain of Bakers field, two sisters, Mrs. Lilly Perkins of Hood River, Ore.. and Bertha Mathes of Kansas City, Mo., and six grandchild ren.
