Chas Pfizer Co., Inc. em ‘Ployes who have participated in company-sponsored activities were honored last night at a special dinner-dance affair in the May flower Room of the Terre’ Haute House. Attending the company’s tenth annual activities banquet, were more than 350 local Pfizer en ployes, along with their wives’ or’ husbands. Special guests at the awards event included representa tives of local communications media, and from the Pfizer Com pany headquarters in Brooklyn tame Herman. ‘A. Poitras, vice President, production; J. William Stuart, vice president, personnel, and Harry, L. Denzler, Brooklyn Plant manager. ACTING .as toastmaster for the annual affair, Vigo Plant Manager Charles W. Smith paid ‘tribute to employes and their wives ‘in at tendance as representatives of the “Pfizer Team.” Smith noted that more than 75 per cent of all em ployes at the local Pfizer installa tions participate in some company sponsored activity. First of the major awards pre sented, for participation in the Pfizer softball league, were by Vice President Stuart who pre sented the championship John E. McKeen Trophy to Manager Ralph Watkins of the Warehouse Wranglers for their 160 record in loop play. Watkins also received the McKeen trophy for the league's top pitching record for his 9-0 rec ord. Batting championship trophy for the league went to Warren M. Reynolds of the Agricultural Re search nine for his .531 hitting per formance. Special gift certificates went to Niles Kajander, league secretary, and to Bill “Shorty’’ Johnson, league scorekeeper and statistician. Itt BASKETBALL awards were pre sented by Vice President Herman Poitras who paid special tribute to the cagers who the past year had annexed the Terre Haute Y. M. C. A. championship and playoff titles. Jackets for all team members were presented to Coach Wayne Myers. Leading scorer trophy went to Arley Andrews for his. 714 total, while the top free throw-shooter trophy was received by Bill Myers. Awards 5 company bowlers were made by Mr. Denzler, start ing with the George Anderson team championship trophy which was handed to Guy Dickerson, captain of the Cowpunchers squad. The winning team also received A. B. C. sleeve emblems. John Weddle received the high average award for his 176 mark, while the most improved bowler award went to Robert Eklund, along with a best buckle award from the American Bowling Congress.
