The largest deal in timber and mill interests ever consummated in the history of Portland was made recently when J. and O. K. Wentworth of Michigan and Illinois increased their holdings in Oregon by purchasing the interests of F. W. Leadbetter in the Portland Lumber company. Thus a vast acreage of timber lands is brought directly under the control of the Wentworths, making their holdingsmore than 2,000,000,000 feet in thisstate alone, and Involving in all anestimated sum of $10,000,000.
