A Good Dra nage System.Walter Jardino of Omaha, who owns the Wm M »rrow place, informs us that he is getting feigners to a petition to straighten the Soldier bo as to permit the floods to flow off more rapidly than they do through its present crooked channel. His scheme is to not vary from the general direction or course, but to cut across the bends and have the water flow in as direct a line as possible. He is quite sure that a systematic straightening of the Soldier, Willow and Boyer will add thousands of dollars each year to the pro-duotive value of Harrison county.Mr Jardine’s plan of drainage is the old one of roads, well graded. That is, raised two or three feet above the general level with ditches extending on either side to the road limits, thus giving a larger basin to hold water and promote lapid evaporation. As he is a wide awake business man hie opinions are of value. The kood road and drainage idea was a favorite one of Col A Cochran and judging by the results where it lias been used, it is a pretty good one.—Observer.
