17-3..—- ■■. ■-* *■*-Y. L. M. S. Concert.An overflowing house greeted the Young Ladies’ Missionary Society at the concert given under their auspices at the Congregational church on Wednesday evening. Every seat in the church was filled and extra chairs had to be brought in. The various selections were rendered in an excellent manner and the concert as a whole was one of the most acceptable given here for’some time. Tlic male quartette consisting of Messrs. Cooley, Kendall, Gunnison and Metcalf won special favor and applause by their effective singing. Mrs. J. W. Evans, of Winona, sang several fine solos which were enthusiastically encored. Miss Myrta French in the “Flower Girl,” and Mr. W. Fitch in the “Yeoman’s Wedding Song” received much applause and were obliged to answer encores.Miss Augusta Kidder favored the audience with a fine piano solo. Miss Emily H. Pratt presided at the piano during the evening and executed a piano solo—“Gondolier^” in an artistic manner. She was deservedly applauded on her different appearances during the evening. Miss Hllie Sherman delighted the audience with her cornet solo, She wras recalled. Miss Studley and her chorus of young ladies gave the opening and closing pieces of the evening in a manner to win the enthusiastic applause of the entire audience. The concert, was in every waya great success. -
