She is survived by her husband, Frank Steven Flores; three sons, Frank Wesley Flores, Keith Flores and Christopher Flores; mother, Marian J. Bar-tell; brother, David Elliott; and two sisters, Lisa Elliott and Julia Cippola, Mrs. Flores is also survived by nieces and nephews.Mrs. Flores was very active with Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with CCD and youth programs. She loved to volunteer her time and was known by most high school students at San Clemente High as the lady with the food cart. She took interest with the handicap children at the school, and her life was her family and her children. She will be missed by many that knew her.Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Friday and Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, both at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 105 La Esperanza, San Clemente. El Camino Real, San Clemente, 492-1717HELEN LUTON HAFERHelen Luton Hafer, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2003, at Seaview Care Home in San Clemente, where she totally enjoyed her final months.She was born on July 27,1914. Helen was bom and raised in Orange and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1997. She and Bob were very well known in and around the county, as they were very busy with many activities. Helen was a member of many clubs and organizations. At the Presbyterian Church, she played the piano for the Sunday school classes, was a member of the Orange Women’s Club, where she also modeled for many years, and was a collector of hundreds of bonsai plants that she dug up and planted from much of the Southern California area.Mainly she was known for her love of art, first studying it for many years. She entered many art shows, and won ribbons at every show. Next she ended up teaching art in her studio in the back of the house, and many spots around the county, including the YMCA in Santa Ana and Orange. She is a life member of the Laguna Beach Art Association, where she has had one-woman shows, has shown her work at the Laguna Beach Art Festival, and always had paintings shown in many galleries throughout Southern California. Helen was the director of art for the Orange County Fair. In addition to those activities, she was always judging art, and giving demonstrations.Realism and impressionism would describe her oils. Many awards have come to her from the Laguna Beach Art Gallery, Whittier Art Association, Orange County Art Association, Torrance Art League and the Palm Springs Art Association. Ike and Mamie Eisenhower purchased one of her paintings and the Nixons had one of her paintings that was in the summer White House when it was in San Clemente.Her works are in many collections throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico,Alaska, Australia, and of course Orange County. A gallery of her works is now at the Superior Gallery, Newport Beach. She was always a student herself and studied under Emerson Lewis, Burt Procter and Bennett Bradberry.
