Courier Special Service) ‘Traer, Ia.—Traer's annual Memo rial day program will be held at the Traer Opera house Monday afternoon. The speaker will be Harold J. Ward, Cedar Rapids, business man and World war II veteran. His address will include person al observations and impressions of a trip to Europe from which he returned only recently. He was a representative at the internation al convention ‘of Junior Chambers of Commerce at Brussells, Bel gium, a few weeks ago. ‘ Tra¢r’s three Protestant churches are cooperating in a community Memorial Sunday service in the Traer opera house Sunday morn ing. . Rev. Paul Somerville, of the Methodist church, will preach the sermon, titled “A Worthy Sacri fice.” A highlight of the program will be a union choir of fifty voices under the direction of Mrs. Carl Wilson. Strawberry Point—The Rev. J. P. Fagan, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic church, will deliver the Memorial day address at the Strawberry Point cemetery Mon day morning at 10 o'clock. All Strawberry Point schools will close at 10 o'clock for the remainder of the day. Gladback — Union Memorial services of all the churches is planned for Sunday at the school gymnasium at 11 o'clock. There will be no church services at any of the local churches at this time in order that all may attend the Memorial services. The sermon, “The Plight of Freedom,” will be given by Rev. H. W. Barten. Charles City—Charles City will observe Memorial day here Mon day with a program in the high school auditorium, with Charles City Attorney E. W. Henke deliv en the main address. The pro gram will start at 10:30 a. m., which will be preceded by a pa rade, participated in by all civic organizations, and the high school marching band. Dysart—Attorney Joseph Thorn ton of Waterloo will give the Me morial day address in the Dysart community building at 2 p. m. Monday. Grundy Center—The Memorial day program will be held in the high school auditorium. The main address will be given by Rev. M_| |T. Baskerville, New Hartford min ister. The services will start at 10:15. _ Osage—Osage will observe Memo rial day Monday at 10:30, with a patriotic parade beginning at the Legion home. At the cemetery Rev. E. H. Meyer, pastor of St. Petri Lutheran church Teeterville, will be the Memorial day speaker at § 2. m. Monday at exercises in the city cemetery. Elma — Elma businesses will be closed at 10 a. m. Monday in ob servance of Memorial day. A talk will be given by Rev. C. H. Schroe der at the Howard cemetery at 10:30 a. m. A veiling ceremony of the memorial board south of the Richmond Drug Co. will be con ducted at 11:30. La Porte City — Union Memo rial day services will be conducted in the Presbyterian church at 1 a. m. Sunday with Rev. M. E. Shank, Evangelical United Breth ren church, officiating. The usual Memorial day exercises will be Presented Monday. All patriotic organizations participating in the event and the school band will meet at the Legion hall at 10:30 a. m. where the parade and march to the bridge will begin.
