In Memoriam..The star is not extinguishedwhen it sets upon ’the dull horizon, it but goes to shind in, other F— •skies then reappear. nDied Bro. J. I. Speer, of Maple a Lodge, No. 93, I. O. O. P., - May 1 7th, 1^)03,at his home near Maple, c I. T., after twelve weeks of suf- * foring.He loved this order with an••ardor akin to filial affection, de- v lighted to assist in its growth, its p expansion and its influence. Dufy ( was his guiding star, no excuse,' passion,* prejudice, flattery or praise could swever him from its * pathway; loyalty to principle was the keynote to his whole character, for lie was loyal and true to his conscientious convictions inV every walk of ltfe. As h citizen he was honored and respected, looking to the general welfare of the community in which he lived. As a husband he w^as fender, loving and affectionate, as a father kind and indulgent. In every walk of life he was a man in the fullest sense of the word, he was true to himself, and true to the church.Wreaths have faded and witn-ered on their tombs, perenial flowers will still blossom and decay thereon. Time will level the livell 1 remembered mound \vhere lie sleeps. Monumeuts will rust and granite crumble. But his deeds are undying and his name imperishable.Brothers, this brilliant light which has adorned and shown about the pathway of this lodge is not put out, but hid for the.moment behind the gloomy shadow we call dpath, only to reappear in immortal beauty, purity andbrilliancy to shine forevermore; therefore, be itResolved, That we as a lodge extend to the bereaved family our deepest sympathy and tender regards, and that a copy of this be spread upon our minutes, a copy sent to the family, also a copy sent to The Sallisaw Starfor publication.A.
