At the sheriff’s sale of the Washburn base ball park last week Judge Warden bid in the fence and all the lumber. Just what the Judge can do with the base ball park is considerable of a mystery, but it has been observed by his frieuds that for several years he has spent a large amount of time hunting in the forests of Bayfield county, and it is intimate^* that on account of advancing years that the Judge has concluded that it would be far more convient to have a game preserve nearer home, and that he will plant a forest on the ball park and chase in a few tame deer, wild bear, partridge, grouse and wood chucks, ■which he can go gunning for on short notice. It is also intimated that inasmuch as the political year is at hand that the Judge may also endeavor to have a few republicans locked in the preserve to practice target shooting and oratory on. But possibly all these conjectures are wrong, ana that the Judge intends to learn to play base ball, and become Captain of a new ball team hear this year. If he does then Tim Kearns will have to look well to his laurels.* *
