The Northern Pacific people are taking hold of matters rather vigorously, and will have everything i down to a fine point when the day of the sale is reached. Their engineersand attorney have been at work herefc r some time, and the matter of right of way has been about definitely determined. The Citizens. Committee have been doing some work, but have not been able to make very great headway, owing to delay in beaching parties with whom they must deal. There has been some talk, to the effect that the Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad company might be a bidder for the Battle Axe at the sale. While the report lacks confirmation, still t might be an eye-opener to the citizens to cast about and see if we cannot possibly secure that railroad for Washburn. The road needs shipping facilities at the head of the lakes, and it would be a great achievement to have them in here.
