Telegraph Taxes.Madison, Wis.—The western Union and the Postal, or Chicago, Milwaukee and Lake Superior telegraph companies tiled their annual report with the state treasurer today. The Western Union company’s report shows tha^ it has 5,677 miles of lines in the state. The report calls for the exact cost of the system, but this the Western union was unable to give, as no record was kept. The license at the rate of $1 for the first wire, 50 cents for the second, 25 cejits for the third and 20 cents for the fourth, amounting to §11,112.35 for the Western Union company. Tiie Postal lines, which are all owned by the Chicago, Milwaukee Lake Superior company, amount to 340 miles. The exact cost of the lines, as estimated by the company, is about $54,000. Their license amounts to $609.45.
