May 56.Judge Richard Francis Lyon, the oldest and one of the ablest members of Uie Macon bar. and one of the most prominent lawyers In Georgia, died at his home. 855 Pine street, yesterday morning ht 2:20 o’clock surrounded by his wife and several m'embcrs of his family.The death of Judge Lyon was not unexpected. He had been 111 for- several months, and though at times he would Improve so much as to give his family and friends hopes of a permanent recovery, he would soon be stricken down again, each relapse leaving him weaker and more exhausted.Judge Lyon was possessed of remarkable will power and this together with his robust constitution enabled him to carry his more than three score and ten with greater vigor than most men of 60. It was this strong will power that kept him from taking his bed until forced by sheer weakness that would have mastered a less strong man and compelled him to surrender to the dread disease long before he did.He was a giant In both physical and Intellectual strength. In fact. It la believed that while thrown Into the many perilous positions Incident to his large practice of more than a half century thnt he never once gave one thought to personal fear or Injury and he always treated threats of personal violence or attempts at Intimidation with the greatest contempt.
