Army Correspondence,Camp K*ar Murfreesboro Tenn. /i| ay 14th 1863. fEditor Flag.' »After so long a time, 1 send yo« this communication which is at your disposal. Our last encounter with the enemy was with ln J Morgan at Milton, March 20th* We ruined ue his fortunes on that day, as but littlo has been heard -from him sine,*.* We were with Wilders forces in kis successful mid ou McMinvilloiniy the last month, you h-.ve had tho particulars xo through tho pagers. Wo arp' being mounted and are in Wilders Briu’e.Our Reg. is in good health and fine spirits— Ready to do our country service at all times .The 123d with its intropd Cot. James Monroe ht, 1ms a name in these parts, which we hope will increase with time. That .we will'finally succeed in conquering n poace, we all believe, and have np\dc up oik minds to encounter tho worstd * *that can befall us, to accomplish tlm end — During the past few months we havo received many, lt;fc to us strange letters. ’The amount of 5p , depmvitv and disloyalty contained in these let-m ters is truly heart sickning, and disgusting. We despise, wo loath and abhor such opistlos, coming as tlv»y do fr«ra those whom we had looked for better things, knowing full well that such coptmrhcads arc giving aid to those who are seeking io destroy the Government, in which wo have embarked our all to sustain. No wo. der that the care-worn soldiers have sent these things in fcno North some hard sayings, to have reasoned mildly with such creatures could subserve no end, nor relieved tit of our pent up wounded feelings. We have spoken plainly, and forccably, and mean it all, haviug staked our lives on the issue. Let the wjork go on, crush rebels in arms—send their northern sympathizers into their own Southern Bogus Confederacy, bv all mo'insw § • *put a s top to thcv^o pernicious workers of iniquity, who are plotting the destruction of our beloved country under the spacious plea ofconservatism. Wo now and then receivo letters from some of those tools of JefT Co. informing us to bo careful how we writo, 3Acall* ®them hard names, os we one day may wish to rjturu home, and forsooth find trouble.Well; This is pretty talk, coming as it docsfrom the advocates of free sjH'ech, and scut totho defenders of the ‘Great Republic,’ who have driven from these ungrateful men’s homes tho Iheiving numbers of rebels, who before this would haveentered, waisted and ruined our loved Illinois. Con temp table us they may nlt;J\v appear, time can wil’, but unmask tho dopth of their secret vilony and infamous conduct. Now, we mean to put down this wicked rebellion, by uscing tho whole power of the? Government, and by striking down every thing that stands in tho way of this great object being accomplishedThose of us who survive the conflict will then return to cm homes ii^ peace, Having a government amply able to protect us in all our rights and jpr^vilAgee. So if tliese copperheadsfeel wrathy at us, lol teroinoumlvtheir*wrath, jind rest assured that we careas liHle for theirir* and spleen as we do for the reptile thatcrallsafc our feet, nor will weoilc them ^hethrewe may or may not, spend the remainder of ourdays in quietude. , *J° ) ’* ^ t s’ ( t' '; ft*Nosigni of a fightjiiifc now in thm?tarts. ■•• ~ - • Vl if *. /; :lt;*J50.
