George the Firft, the 'teteyear of the reiga of King George the Secondh and the. fectad year of me reign of his prefent Majefty, for laying a*.duty of two pennies Scots,, or one fix th part of a • penny'fterling, on every pint of ale or beer that, /hall be vended or fold within the town of Dumfries and privileges thereof, for paying the debts jo/jthe faid town, and for building a church and making a harbour there ; and for laying a duty on the tonnage of /hipping, and a duty on goods imported and exported into and out of the port Of the faid town, for the better repairing of the faid harbour, and for paving, cleanfing, lighting, and watching the ftreets and other public places within the faid town, and widening the ftreets where neceffary, and removing and preventing huifances therein. IAn aft for taking down the/ Guild-Hall or Town-Hall in the borough of Grantham, in the county of Lincoln, and rebuilding the fame.An aft for further regulating the trade and bu-finefs of pawnbrokers.An aft for making and declaring the gaol for the county of Devon, called the' high gaol, | public and common gaol, and for difcbarging Denys Rolle and John Rolie, Efqrs. and their refpeftive heirs and affigns, from the office-of keeper of the faid gaol, and for improving and enlarging the fame, or building a new one ; and alfo for taking down the chapel in the Caftle of Exeter ; and tor other purpofes therein mentioned.
