Jessie Merritt.Jessie Merritt (nee Carter), a 25-''ear resident of Park Forest, formerly a 41-year resident of Chicago Heights, died Thursday, May 25, at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital and Medical Center, Olympia Fields.Services will lx 11 a.m. Tuesday at Union Evangelistic Baptist Church, Chicago Heights, with the Rev. James Flint officiating. Interment will be in Mount Glenwood Memory Gardens Cemetery, Glenwood.Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time df service at the church.The former Jessie Carter was born Oct. 17, 1910, in Indinola, Miss. She was employed at the Chicago Heights Senior Center; and was a charter member of Union Evangelistic Baptist Church, Chicago Heights.She is survived by two daughters, Lois Merritt and Rosetta (Bill) Reynolds, all of Park Forest; two sons, Gradie Jr. and William (Dorothy), all of Park Forest; a sister, Rosetta Campbell of Chicago Heights; and seven grandchildren.Her husband, Gradie Sr., died in 1964.Memorials may be made to Union Evangelistic Baptist Church, Chicago Heights.Arrangements were handled by Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home, Park Forest.
