THE SECOND ANNUAL BAR ROOM BICYCLE RACE was a smashing success, with 20 bikers making the circuit of 5 local bars, chugging a Lone Star in each, and racing on to the finish line on the beach. This year’s winner among the men, Faust Parker, retained his title from last year’s race. The winning lady was Carole Plummer. Proceeds from the race and barbeque following, at the Beach Lodge, go to the Port Aransas Canine Care Clinic, to aid abandoned and injured dogs. The race, and canine care function were the brainstorms of Tim Stanford, local dog lover, who for two years now has organized the bike event, with lots of promotional aid (and beer) from Lone Star Distributor Sam Simpson.
