Funeral services for Lt. Col. Jack H. Turner, 45, of 608 S. Thomas St., Christopher, who was killed May 21, in Tehran, Iran, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church in Christopher. Air Force Chaplain Robert Prested will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, where military services will be conducted. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Ch ristopher. The casket will be closed. ‘The family asks that dona tions be made to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers. Lt. Col. Turner enlisted in the Air Force in 1953 and was to retire in August, 1976, at the end of his two-year assign ment in Iran. He attended Southern Ilinois University in Carbondale and was graduated from the Uni versity of Nebraska with an undergraduate degree in poli tical science. He served two tours in Ja pan and one in Korea and Viet nam. He was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Carbondale to Dr. Marion and Genevieve Safriet Turner. Survivors are his wife, the former Harvalee Greenwood; his mother of Christopher; two sons, Daniel Harris Turner and Scott Greenwood Turner, both at home; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Turner, also at home; and two sisters, Bob by Williams of Carpentersville and Mary Lou Gunther of Galesburg.
