GEORGE H. MILLS SUDDENLY DIES AT THE LOCAL HOSPITALGEORGE H. MfULS,George H. Mills, one of the moet widely known men In Orange county, who has made liis home in Goshen for many years, died at Thrall Hospital at about 2:30 p. m. Wednesday, after a short illness of meningitis. Mr. Mills was taken to Thrall Hospital on Friday last. He was the sop of Harrison Mills, one time sheriff of Orange county.The death of Mr. Mills will come as a great shock to prominent turfmen in this section, be having been one of the most prominent half-mile circuit starters in the East, Mr. Mills for many years spent his winters in the South.Goshen, May 27—The death of George H. Mills, on Wednesday afternoon, at Thrall Hospital, Middletown, as briefly announced in. the Times-Prcss, of that date, was a great shock to the many friends of the well-known horseman, although it was known that he was seriously 11! and had been great sufferer for the past two months. The cause of death was mastoiditis.Mr. Mills was hom April 25, 184S, in the town of Crawford, son of Harrison and Ophelia Knapp Mills, In 1872 he was married to Augusta Duryea, daughter of AJpheus Duryeaj of Gerard, in the town of Blooming! Grove.For 40 years Mr. Mills was a resi-! dent of Goshen, and wag one of the; best known horsemen in this state,'] his reputation as a starting judge even extending into several other states. He was past master of Goshen Lodge. F. tfc A. L, and a member of the Elks Lodge, of Middletown; also, of Goshen Grange and the order of the Eastern Star.Deceased is survived by one son, H- D. Mills, of Wald wick, X. J.; one daughter, Mrs. Howard D. Seeley, of Goshen; two brothers, Victor K. Mills, of Goshen, and Charles W. Mills, of San Francisco, and. one sister, Mrs. Frederick Smith, of Goshen.The funeral services will be held at the home of Howard D. Seeley* Goshen, at 2 o’clock, Friday afternoon. Interment in family plot, Slate Hill cemetery, Goshen.
